[bodytext] => When I am old
I will forget my address, And cause the police no end of bother; I will wear my hat back to front, And walk out of the ladies loo With my skirt tucked into my knickers; I will remember all the dances I knew as a girl, But not the day of the week, Or who is on the throne; They will sew a spare set of door keys Into the lining of my coat, So that I tilt to one side, And look up crookedly With a loopy, foolish grin, Over big goggle eyed glasses, And I will leave my teeth out To get the full effect. Nothing will matter that matters right now, But age will become a cloak for lifelong follies; Like never having known my right from left, Or why I could never make the right choice About love, work and children; All my failures will have led me here, But somehow I will rework them Into a spectacularly interesting and rich tale, Worth making a movie out of; I will laugh, cry and break wind as I please, And simply ooze contentment and repose, And maybe in my less bizarre moments I’ll be seen as a wise, sweet old dear; And maybe find a toy-boy. Who knows? When I am old, all my dreams will come true [comments] => 1 [counter] => 157 [topic] => 21 [informant] => melis [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )
