granted, it is a small town
that brings to her brow a frown
she's creative and to them, unusual

it is not easy to be different
in a world of backwards people
who make harsh judgements

quickly; so she has come to be
quite strange; oh, let her be
she does not care anymore

once she let go a cry, not one of
them would wipe her eye they have
blown their chances as wind blows branches

their words and tongue
spew poison like arsenic wine
slow faults that kill love like a shadow

her auburn hair lays on high cheek
-bones of indian heritage the proud
ones, at the breeze she laughs aloud

her mind goes where it will
whilst moonshine is their thrill
not as fun, mayhap their lives are

for beautiful she shines as a star
brilliant and rare as snow in rain
they will never know her pain

they are too shallow
by far.

Outstanding Nessa. Good for her. Tell her to cherish her difference from them. Never let her fall into the same deary life as their narrowness consumes. Life is too full and wonderful to live like that. Magnificence at it best.

We are in the same mind frame.

She sounds beautiful and people can be biased and closed minded.

This was so lovely to write for your daughter.

This is AWESOME!! Sometimes I wish I had the sort of mother who'd write a poem like this about me. You two are so lucky to have each other, and if I were Mara, I'd be extremely proud to have this written about me. Absolutely beautiful.

This is beautiful ness, but I cannot in good conscience give you all the credit for it as the young lady you wrote it for is so charming, beautiful and intelligent that it would have been impossible to write of her without it being a masterpiece.
(((( for both of ya))))

A Mother's love is so precious, (or it should be). It sounds like you are a devoted and protective parent. Your daughter has already won half the battle...in short order those others won't matter.

You wrote this really well.
