I wouldn’t want to carry that burden
I don’t want a poem or sonnet
Declarations of love in your scrawling print
Don’t feel the need to tell me that I’m the one
When we both know that I’m not
You don’t need to whisper your desires into my hair
You would conquer my hear no matter what you say tonight
Don’t tell me things aren’t how they seem
When she’s the one you’ll be dreaming of tonight
Don’t patronize me by saying I’m such a pretty little thing
Not when you don’t know how un-pretty I am under this skin
For one last night I’ll pretend I don’t see forever in your gaze
I’ll lower myself to your level once more
Denying that I want to be more than what I am
Forgetting who we both are
I’ll be your plaything
Do with me that you please
Kiss me, lie to me, tell me it will be ok
Why don’t you want to forget the rest of the world
When my head rests on your chest
Why doesn’t your hand against my cheek
Capture every piece of your essence
Why are you thinking of her when you’re with me
Don’t you see the torture in my eyes
Why do you pretend you’re blind to what I’m thinking
What would it take to be worth it to you
Who would I have to be to make you leave with me
Well, I guess you’ve decided to settle for me tonight
Pretending not to know that you mean everything to me
Using my body without looking me in the eye
Closing your own so you can better see hers
And in the end you’ll fulfill your need
I’ll pretend it didn’t mean more to me
When your kisses still cling to every inch of my being tomorrow morning
I’ll scrape you from my flesh
Throw each one out with the rest of my yearnings
The thoughts, feelings, hopes, words
The way your skin felt against mine
I’ll fill in the imprint you left on my soul
It will heal soon enough
And I sweep out all our trash
But, tonight I’ll forget about what’s in store
Please don’t move, just lay there
I’m breathing you in tonight
Making a memory to haunt me for a life-time [comments] => 4 [counter] => 215 [topic] => 52 [informant] => leepeter [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 102 [ratings] => 21 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => goodbyepoetry )

my favorite lines:

"You don’t need to whisper your desires into my hair"

"When your kisses still cling to every inch of my being tomorrow morning"

awesome.
