I know of one, a very sad
But lovely one who taught me
What it means to give,
Showed me how to live,
And love.

It’s at times such as these, I recall
The wise words she once said to me;
At a time when I felt I knew it all,
I recall the words now with such clarity.

We dream the dreams of princes and queens,
But live out our days in obscurity;
We fall in love but don’t know what it means;
Love is the burden of responsibility.

When you wake at dawn to find you lover gone,
A note by the bed, an impression of her head
Upon the pillow. Like the willow,
Give more and bend; love does not end;
Let go of pride and don’t become bitter inside;
Don’t go down that low; don’t allow vain ego
To win in the end; just sway and bend;
Love her more, love her more.

Wipe the tears from your face,
And remember your place
In the cosmic scam of things;
All you have is what you have,
And what you have is love;
And when you think hope dies,
When you see nothing in her eyes;
If its real and you still call it love,
Love her more, love her more.

Be sure of yourself and be true;
Not just to her, but to you;
You know what love means,
Hold onto those dreams;
Look after what’s inside;
Don’t hide or be scared,
Or ashamed that you cared;
Vanity is insanity in love;
Love her more, just love her more.

Don’t betray your truth;
Beware the idealism of youth,
Thst wants the world and wants it now;
Take it slow, change the rules;
We are all love’s fools: the lonely, worn out,
Strung out, dispossessed and worse;
Who just gaze upon the universe
Of suffering; so don’t cry; don’t ask why
Just love her more, love her more. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 168 [topic] => 43 [informant] => melis [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => oops )
