Array ( [sid] => 42851 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => HEY MY FRIEND [time] => 2004-04-12 07:05:09 [hometext] => This was a poem that I wrote with a friend; James Watts of S.D. Calif. about 23 yrs. ago [bodytext] => Hey my friend,
can you lend a helping hand?
You know it seems i've lost
everything I ever had.
Yes i'm working,
hard to get it back.
I just need a little help,
from a friend.

What's the matter?
Tell me why you turn away?
You were offering
to be my friend
just the other day.
It's not about
seeing things my way.
I just need a little help,
from a friend.

What has happened,
now that I look around.
I can't find anyone
who will help me to nail it down.
Everybody's busy,
or they just don't want to be found,
by a friend. By a friend.

So if your my friend,
I hope you understand.
This here was a request,
I never would demand,
anything, from anyone,
that has never been my plan.
I just need a little help,
from a friend. [comments] => 5 [counter] => 158 [topic] => 63 [informant] => rhymeandreason [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => hbadday )

I have never been in that position, thank goodness, but I have treated a lot of them and most seem to like being homeless and winos and/or alcoholics. I can't find it in my heart to help them with their addiction other than in a clinic. How do you tell the difference? I do know some of them can't help it but how do you know.

Nice write on a sad subject.

Rita

An emotional poem which is refreshing in its candour, and emotional to boot. Thanks for dredging it up for some air once more.

Asking for help takes so much strength. It is harder than it seems which impresses me. Unfortunately friends are sometimes like fair weather and vacation when times are rough.

An incredible poem filled with depth. Well done.

Kie
