that make me look at you,
like some besotted love-sick fool,
when I know it isn’t so.

It’s just infatuation…
that keeps me playing games
like ‘Heart on the Sleeve’
and ‘Troubled Nights’,
when I know they end the same.

It’s just infatuation…
that puts me on a cross
a martyr to relationships,
imaginary or lost.

It’s just infatuation…
that leads me so askew,
and sacrifices lambs like me
to callous gods like you. [comments] => 7 [counter] => 181 [topic] => 13 [informant] => spike [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 35 [ratings] => 7 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )

Excellent write my friend...a clear cut case of sour grapes. If we cant have them they become unworthy of our efforts.

Very well done

It’s just infatuation…..
That leads me so askew,
And sacrifices lambs like me to callous gods like you.

The last line made my jaw drop, and convinced me to go back and read this over, and over... each time realizing the deep emotions and excellence behind every word...

Great job!!!

...all the girls in every girly magazine can make me feel any less alone...

I agree with the other comments, the last line is just stellar. Overall this was an intriguing write dripping with the hurt that comes from one-sided love affairs...well done.

When there is nothing left but hurt and space the pen reaches out to try and justify. Great choice of words Spike. June

Yes indeed,
Beautiful poem to say the least...The last verse WAS very well said and I hope things are easier on you now.True how we tend to diminish the other as a way of coping,I guess maybe for the fact that it hurts knowing someone who we spend so much time and effort on couldn't care less...Ahh,human nature.....Excellent poetry.
