Rough times come, just close my eyes real tight.
Turning off feelings like a light.
Sadness into happiness without a fight.

My life however is like the seasons.
Changing colors for no good reason.
Up and down my mood may go.
Sometimes it feels as if flowers could grow.

Usually though my heart feels as if though,
My life is going nowhere and I feel so alone.
My face starts to frown and my eyes lose their glow.
To others I act and put on a show.

Most of those I act for do now see.
All the pain that builds inside of me.
I keep it inside and hide behind a smile.
But I know my feelings aren't controlled by a dial.

Happiness is a word that fools us indeed.
Deceives us to believe it is all that we need.
Despite what they say its not imperative.
I'm a perfect example, cause without it I do live.

Its something we crave for, need, and we want.
Without it all my demons come back to haunt.
I strive to be happy every single day.
I have observed those who are adn tried to copy their way.

Happiness is easier said then done.
Once I gain it I think I'll have won.
The war against sadness is what we fight with.
To those who beat it you have a great gift.

Share with the rest of us what exactly you did.
Many would buy it and many would bid.
The world would be peaceful if the secret you gave.
To the ones who really need it our lives you will save.

It would be nice to have instructions written down.
But the way to achieve it is not alike for each frown.
We each have to search as to what makes us shine.
One day you will find yours and hopefully I'll find mine. Well said Meg. This is one of my favorites. Happiness is out there for everyone, But I don't think it's a question of how to find it. I think the question is will you notice it when it finds you?

Great write.

Curtis
