[bodytext] => Tallying the Day Sitting in the old rocking chair, On my grandfathers porch. I watch as the log trucks drive by, On the highway by the levee. The day lazily passed, Adding another day to the list, That seems never to end. Each day on the list, Starting from the day you said good-bye, That you would return to my arms. I've marked the days that have come and gone. Like the changes in the wind, It's the same each day, Only in a different dirrection. I watch the sun sink, Slowly into the western horizon, Just as I have done since you turned your cheek. The sun setting, Like my heart, Is the same each day. I love you now, The same as I did, As you turned your back on me. Nightfall engulfs the day, I kneel down, At the foot of my bed to pray. My prayers, Like the night, Are the same as they have been, For thousands of years. I pray for you, For you to be happy. To be at a point in your life, Where you are the most satisfied. I pray that if you are lost, And trying to return to my arms, That tomorrow will be the day, That all your hopes and dreams are to come true. But that day has yet to come, So I sit on my grandfathers porch, Tallying the days till you return.
