Array ( [sid] => 41854 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => The hermit [time] => 2004-04-05 12:22:30 [hometext] => This is my first poem to be submitted and this is dedicated to a very special person I know. I fear for her lack of enthusiasm in social activities and am hoping that the readers of this poem would alter their lifestyles if needed. [bodytext] => Shying away from humanity, she cowers in the dark,
Afraid to face the world outside, she lives a life so stark,
Convincing herself that she’s doing what’s right,
She shivers and shudders when it’s cold at night
A modern-day hermit who scampers off upon sight,
She mumbles words of self-consolation and feints from the light,
Shaken yet unawake she lumbers on,
All connections with society have already been torn
Freedom from this hell-hole isn’t asked for by her,
All shoots of mere hope are considered as an err,
Yet, deep in her solitude she yearns for a light-ray,
But, alas! No one knows her; so, in this torment she shall have to stay

Your poem makes me feel what this woman of solitude feels. Well expressed. I hope the Light will show her the way to happiness!

Wonderfully written, very emotional, very nice. Easy to read, i too can sense the plight of your friend, she sounds sort of like Emily Dickinson, who was also a great poet.

I appreciate your concern over your ' Hermit' like friend. But I can assure you she will come out when the time is right,( just like Maitriya buddha who is due in another 30, 000 years.) Everyone, I think, has a reserved time & place.
Anyway, cut the crap, Your verse is absolutely marvelous. Brilliant, a real expression of everyday crisis.
