How Do You Know

Contributed by norm on Sunday, 4th April 2004 @ 07:38:15 AM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

How do you know the one you want so
Is the one that is suited for you,
How do you know the time you invest
Is invested in someone that's true.

What makes you think when you stand on the brink
Of new love that you've paid what is due,
Think not that true love comes to you without cost
And it's yours without paying on queue.

By cost, do I mean it's a matter of green
It's a matter of dollars and cents?
I'm not all that crass, at the back of the class
Must you buy him/her a Mercedes Benz.

You don't know, my friend, it just might be the end
of your sanity as it was beknown,
If that is the case would you please have the grace,
of not camping by your telephone.

But odd as it seems the one in your dreams
Just might be the prize of the year,
And you'll happily mate with your Harry or Kate,
And live a full life that's sincere.

For better or worse
may seem sort of terse
but I've learned that
it's really God's plan
the longer I've worked
at overcoming my quirks
the more I see this one's
my man
