Array ( [sid] => 41699 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => The Cowboy [time] => 2004-04-04 03:55:31 [hometext] => [bodytext] => A young cowboy rode into town,
And not far behind fell a cold black cloud.
The lightning started to flash,
And the thunder began to roar.
He rode up to the saloon,
And walked in through the door.
Heads began to turn,
And glasses slammed table tops.
Head hung low, and arms at his side
That cowboy came to a dead stop.
He raised his hat, and headed towards the bar.
Not a noise was made,
Except from the spurs on his heels
All men stared into those eyes of steel
Not one dared to make a move,
For they knew they were sure to lose.
The cowboy stood at the bar,
taking shot after shot.
Little did that cowboy know,
he would be the star of a show.
Another cowboy walked in standing just,
the way that cowboy did earlier.
Hands at his side and standing tall.
That man asked the cowboy, are you
ready to draw. Grinding their teeth,
and hands at their sides. Those cowboys
stared each other down eye to eye.
The first cowboy took first draw,
only to watch the other one fall.
Not a care for just what went down,
that cowboy walked to his horse, and
headed out of town. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 146 [topic] => 65 [informant] => Rylo [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => toughstuff )

Being from a long line of ranchers I feel I must correct one discrepancy here. There is a vast difference between gunslingers and cowboys. These two were gunslingers not cowboys. Cowboys are peaceful, nature-loving, strong hearted men, not killers. Otherwise this was a great depiction of the old west. Nice write.
