for tomorrow you turn fifteen
you were so very young when
I brought you home it seemed
you were barely old enough
to be on your own

You are sprawled out
on the foot of the bed
as I am stroking your coat
I do not know at first
that you are sleeping until
I see your paws moving

I wonder what you
are dreaming about my barney boy
spoiled brat baby maybe chasing
a squirrel as he taunts you
from the privacy fence
or could be a giant ham bone
kind of dream I'll never know

One thing I do know is that
I have been truly blessed
to have a dog so loving and true
who tries so hard to please
even though your getting old
I love you even more so I
wouldn't trade you for
any amount of gold

In my world the pets are just another person in the family to love. I just can't imagine a life without them. It sure would be lonely. They are the most faithful friend you can have.

Rainbows to Barney Boy,
Rita

Sweet poem, I would also be lost without my 2 dogs. They are amazing, know when I am down, they're a great comfort when I'm feeling lonely. Pets are sometimes better than family but I won't go there lol. Great write.

Ali xx
