has seemingly hit everyone i know
and myself as well
it's a deep purple veil
it feels like velvet curtains
and smothers like it too
everyone shows it sometime
some more than others
i don't show it
at least i don't think i do
and i've learned how to cope
instead of being smothered
i'm wrapped up in this deep
plum velvet sheet
that flows like a river
from around my feet
only those inexperienced to it
will drown; i learned how to float
cover me
blind me
choak me
wrap me up
leave me without feeling
i'm probably better off
without them
i'm halfway there as it is
depression
hits us all one time or another
some sooner than others
but once you're pushed in
you've got to decide whether
to sink or swim
i'm floating,
i'm in between
but the question really seems
do i want to sink
or swim?

depression
has seemingly hit everyone i know
and myself as well

i don't show it
