Array ( [sid] => 41197 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Would you [time] => 2004-03-31 20:37:43 [hometext] => i wrote this because it feels like people are losing sight of whats really important... [bodytext] => When you are dying or already dead, or maybe just hanging on to that last thread…

Would it matter who looked at you strangely?
Would it matter if you could no longer see?
Would it matter about what you fought?
Would it matter what clothes you bought?
Would it matter why you cried today?
Would it matter what the people did say?
Would it matter what you would know?
Would it matter if you’ve never seen snow?
Would it matter if you won that last fight?
Would it matter if you didn’t sleep last night?
Would it matter if you never were rich?
Would it matter if you fell in that ditch?

When you are holding on to that last breath, tell me…

Would you care that you didn’t sleep at home last night?
Would you care that you never fixed Johnny’s kite?
Would you care that you didn’t kiss your wife goodbye?
Would you care that you told her another lie?
Would you care that you made her cry?
Would you care that you’ll never see their faces again?
Would you care that you yelled at them?
Would you care to kiss them goodbye?
Would you care to say i love you one last time...

Yes. I would. But what would it matter to me? Any regret I'd have I'd rather spend thinking brighter thoughts. My last breath would be spent in a "thank you," not a "Sorry."

In one of your lines you make an active attempt to preserve the rhythm that runs through the remainder of your poem, and for that I commend you. You've definitely taken one of the more generic titles and put an intriguing twist on the meaning.

Profoundly done.

"Companionship may ease the pain, though in the end you buy disdain."
