Our beautiful “Sparky” cat passed away.
We all cried and remembered the special things about her,
The joy and now pain, for her soul, tonight I pray.
It’s my major quip with organised religion,
It’s said God didn’t give animals an afterlife of joy,
I know Sparky is there somewhere waiting,
Just like a passed-away human girl or boy.
She came to us in 1992, a bundle of fun.
And always was such a small tiger-furred one.
Those days camping in the motor home,
I just cannot believe she has gone.
This evening the rocking chair was empty and silent,
But I still expect to hear a purr.
I looked for her when dad came in from the pub,
I still can’t imagine a full life without her.
Most of my friends loved to stroke her,
And gently fondled her ears and face.
She loved their company and purred for them,
A very special pussycat, so full of grace.
If you wanted evidence of God existing,
You should have seen our contented cat,
Now it seems our house is full of shadow,
I guess Satan must have seen to that.
We all cried a lot today but that won’t make
It easier tomorrow or the day after that,
Her moonlight eyes, her soft butter paws,
All the wonderful things that made our cat.
So if you have a pet or even a person,
That you love and cherish the most.
Make the most of them and enjoy what they offer,
It’s impossible to curl up with a ghost.

I am so sorry for your loss. It is exactly like losing someone in the family. I have the same feelings Will Rogers had about it; I don't know where animals go when they die, but where ever it is I want to go there too. I can't imagine living without a cat or dog. Life would be so empty.

Rainbows,
Rita
