tell me again
show me my reflection
my true reflection
this dreary curiosity of mine wonders;
i suspect you know all about my misty dreams
my lovely nightmares of jade
you've seen many before me, o mirror
and i'm sure you've seen the classic hurt,
the blaring envy, the filled trust, the sick greed,
and the lonesome blues of the human race
so tell me
what do you see in me?
i know you can see through people's masks
what can you see through mine?
do you see those golden memories of the past
where everyone was happy--a true happiness?
do you see that promising future, and,
more importantly, I suppose, is it open for me?
i'm sure you can
but you know that's not what's all of me
yes, i'm scared to admit, o mirror of mine
that i'm exactly what you see
you see the ebony tears the flow down my cheeks
for ink water flows through my veins
that flourencent sorrow that glares from time to time
the beautiful nightsong that quickly changes to an ugly lullaby
that plastic white shelf where
my empty wish pieces lie, waiting to be filled
and you can see my velvet emotions,
full of deadly whispers and murder memories
full of my numbered thoughts
in these frigid veins of mine runs a venomous love
that the spite dragons love to drink
and it stings like harsh violin lemonade
but it's bearable
ah, this free rhythm flows on the paper like written wine
it's the only way i can escape
the evil illusions of this reality
bitter nostalgia bites be again
full of these crimson nightmares
that run like horses through my brain
ivy lies, twist over me, cover me
for i can't take the blaring truth
mirror, mirror
can you see me as i truly am?
can you see behind my mask?
can you see the girl, bruised and beaten by rage,
black tears of sorrow running down her cheeks,
yet her eyes shine something mysterious
something undiscovered lies within
speak to me again
dear reflection o mine
