It is sometimes sad
When the start of the day
Will be the best you've had.

Friends can often help,
Just to go the extra mile.
To stop by and say hello
Or grace you with a smile.

But I digress, better stick to the story
I was talking about my commute!
About being out in the morning,
In a nylon and spandex suit.

The mornings are fresher,
the air is cool and clean and crisp
Two hours after my ride,
My lungs still crave another whisp.

Every day, I see sights,
The things that drivers never see,
Two deer resting in the grass,
Or an owl up in a tree.

This morning, sitting on adjacent poles,
Two red-tailed hawks in royalty
Watched me silenty go gliding by,
With passing curiousity.

Me and the bike are kinda old,
Okay, maybe not quite antique,
But we've both been around for a while,
So maybe I am a freak!!

I figure that every hour I'm in the saddle,
Adds an hour to my life...
Of course, is this a good idea?
Another hour of strife?

You may debate this idea,
And argue, rant and rave,
I'll just keep pedalling my bike,
Probably dance upon your grave!

Now it's time to end this ode,
And thank the readers, too,
And especially those who comment,
I'd like to say thank you.

I love to ride my bike,
Work hard and learn and train,
But it sure doesn't hurt
To exercise my brain!!
