She was my best friend,
She gave drugs and alcohol a whirl,
And her life started to descend.
She used to be so innocent,
This was back in 8th grade,
Then off to Colorado she went,
And came back with a new habit made.
She told me she started drinking,
And that she loved it a whole lot,
She also said she was thinking,
Of smoking a little pot.
At first I was against it,
And then we gave it a go,
And before I knew it,
We started snorting blow.
I told her it wasn’t right,
And that we both needed to quit,
But instead we went on to light,
Our very first “g” hits.
After this, nothing else mattered,
Glass took over all our thoughts,
Then we started looking a little battered,
And our faces were covered with tiny red spots.
I hated the lifestyle I was leading,
So I tried and tried to stop,
Nicole kept snorting til her nose was bleeding,
And I just stood by as her weight started to drop.
I knew that if I hung around her,
I would get caught back up in the game,
So I started to ignore her,
So my habit I could try to tame.
It’s been several months now,
Since the last time I talked to Nicole,
I hear she thinks she is a cow,
But really is as scrawny as a pole.
I also heard she sleeps around,
With anyone that talks to her,
The thought of it all makes me frown,
Mostly because I feel so bad for her.
I hope to God she’s okay,
I don’t want her to die,
I wonder about her day to day,
But I’m so glad I said Good Bye.
