Parents don’t understand.
All we want is to find our own paths,
don’t you see we’re growing up into adults.
Give us the space we need!
Arguments are our way of getting our points across.
So if you don’t want us to shout, listen more often.
All I want is to be heard,
Not ignored.
Listen to me!
I’m not a nasty person,
I don’t mean to be hurtful, but you
Push me.
All I need is a little attention,
Not anger!
All I want is a conversation, not an argument.
Stop shouting at me, I’m sick of it.
Don’t go silent though, silence would,
Kill me.
Just listen!
Let me find my voice!
Give me a chance to be the person I’m
Meant to be!
Would it kill you to listen for once?
Talk to me like an adult.
Stop treating me like a,
Child!

Well written and to the point... I wish I had listen to my daughter.

But remember you will always be your mother's child.

Ok. That's clear enough. Now, cut out the foolishness, and do as I say. Be nicer to your parents. They raised you and only want the best for you....... Or, do they? Hmmm.... better watch your step.

This was never meant as a dig at my parents. I couldnt ask for better parents. It was more of a dig at adults in general for seeing us as just children.

I like the way you wrote this. I loved the part where you said: 'Let me find my voice'. Writing poetry like you are is a great way to find it

Wonderful points made. It was almost like you reached into my mind and grasped all the feelings of my family and turned them into poetic thoughts.
Exellent write.

Kisses,
~Soulless~
