Yellow detention slip in her hands,
Her father's signature needed
On the day of the student's return-
But he just won't understand.

Next day, black and blue bruises
On her beautiful body
And cuts on her cheeks from his rings,
She lays curled up in a ball on the rug
Humming the song her mom used to sing
Before she left Jamie all alone,
Now she jsut cries all the time
Taking away the pain by getting stoned.

One months and sixteen beatings later,
Caught with marijuana and heroine in her backpack
She denies knowing how it got there but they don't believe her
And of coure they call her father,
They say it's for her own good
But she says he won't understand;
Instead of anythings else, he uses a fist-shaped hand
And now Jamie lies dead.

She loved her Daddy so much
And said she'd be his baby girl forever,
He would just tell her to grow-up
But,
When will little Jamie become a lady?
Never-
She sleeps with those scars forever [comments] => 1 [counter] => 151 [topic] => 21 [informant] => angelface [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 4 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )
