Fading Candle

Gloomy rains soak the night away,
Thunder rolls to strike at lightning,
One window lit as the clouds fade to day,
The shine of love burns on the simmering sill,
And it's me who stands out in heavy showers,
Soaked to the bone, as my body grows chilled.
But the doorstep I yearningly approach,
Falls so distant as the window's candle fades,
And the shear winds pin me to doomed fate,
Holding me back, as the flame slowly shades.
The weather fails to calm it's fatal suppression,
I hope to learn what hides behind this door,
But for each step taken, my will lessens,
And for each moment closer, the rain just pours,
The wax melts timely and foreshadows doom,
The deep fire ages leaving darkness among the room.
The muddy trails hinder my efforts,
Just as the lowly fog singes my eyes,
Farther I travel in a hope to beat time,
Desiring what lies ahead, as hope dies,
That light signaling love draws me in,
And it is what gives me faith,
To step one step further, to acquire,
What hides behind that fire.
Looking in upon such love,
I want to know what it's like,
To feel the happiness brought by day,
Instead of sunken, sullen nights.
Can't find my way in,
Lost among this life,
I try again and again,
But I'm always falling away,
As the candle slowly fades...

One day your heartlight will begin to glow and a flame will arise that nothing can extinguish no matter how close or how far away you are. You will know when it happens because it will be like you have breathed for the very first time and seen color for the first time or tasted or smelled the world. You will know. Don't get discouraged.
