Shadows surround
No light shines through
A man trapped by his own memories
Ice surrounds his heart
To all appearances
His smile is real
Not a mask to cover his pain and sorrow
Oh the mystery of our lovely facades
Loneliness cracks
Even the best built walls
Memories slowly fade into the background
Ice melts into water
Appearances are what we make them out to be
Smiles can turn upside
And tears flow when we see ourselves
Oh the fragilness of those facades we hold close
Past can prepare us for the future
Yet is folly to hold onto the past
For while we drown in memories
The future passes us by.
