Array ( [sid] => 39856 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Ever A Time [time] => 2004-03-22 23:53:58 [hometext] => all poems i write are related one way or another to alzheimers, a tragedy all need to be aware of [bodytext] => do we have a chance to regain all that we ever were
can you pick up broken pieces and make life
whole again
tell me can we ever return to the way things were before
can you tell me yes to any question then maybe just maybe
was there ever a time we wished things were different

i find myself dreaming alot of what ifs if only if only
life is not kind to what ifs in fact its downright cruel
so i ask myself again is there anything life does approve of
my answer again is not nice i sigh and think better of it
was there ever a time we wished things were different

i know they cant help themselves and its all alzheimers fault
but its hard to not react when its their voice saying things
and it sure looks like my mom making my life into dantes inferno
please explain how i can control my temper against this demon
was there ever a time we wished things were different

my life has become a battleground in three short years with her
the first year wasnt bad and we enjoyed our company togerher
the second year was the beginning of the war with alzheimers
the year the war became intense i wont continue this anymore

Wow, my dear sweet friend,
I know this has to be a living hell for u-n-your family. Someday u will feel good about yourself for taking care of your Mom. Many people jus couldn't deal with what u do on a daily basis.
I have a sujestion, maybe u could write about some of the happy times with your Mom to preserve the memories. Like how she felt before she couldn't remember. Did u discuss it with her. U could even go back further to times when she was a vibrent women. I'm sure she's a remarkable women as u r her daughter and I admire u for hanging with her as long as u have.
Sad but good work.
luv, huggs, prayer, peace, joy,
emy
