That to the darkness
I have cried
Many times I have asked
"Please tell me why"

The darkness never answers
I suppose I don't expect it to
Though still sometimes I feel
The darkness is my only friend
For never does it cease to come
No excuses it will have
It will always listen
To every word you say

The darkness could be a lover
The best you've ever had
It will hold you all night long
Never speaking
But still you know that it is there
Though it will leave you
For the bitter bright of day
It always shall return
To be there when no one else will

Darkness always shall protect you
From unseen frights and things
It's there to block them all away
The things that lurk within

I know you feel
Just as I do
But maybe never you will say
How much you've grown to love the dark
How much it means to you

The shadows that you see
Are nothing ever you must fear
Just the darkness
Telling you
That it is there
And knows that you are too

When the darkness comes tonight
Maybe now you will appreciate
The friendship that it holds [comments] => 3 [counter] => 198 [topic] => 13 [informant] => night_child [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )

Nice and true. An optimistic view on what is normally seen as something dark (duh) and sinister.
