Array ( [sid] => 389 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Merry-Go-Round [time] => 2002-07-14 12:36:18 [hometext] => A free ride that was truely special.

This poem is one of my better one's (At least that's what I think.) I hope you enjoy it. [bodytext] => One day we came upon a Merry-Go-Round,
Its music you could hear for miles,
And you could see all the horsed going up and down,
While there riders held on tight.

My grandpa and I ran side by side,
So we could be the first in line,
And the lady said "One token please,"
So I quickly put it in her hand.

I searched for the perfect horse,
Round and round I went,
Until I saw one with an American Flag,
And her nameplate said "Belle."

From the moment I saw her,
I knew she was the perfect horse,
Her main, body, and tail were white,
And the red, while, and blue was at her side.

So I hurried and hopped on,
And held on tight,
And my grandpa took the horse beside me,
So we could ride together.

They started out slow,
Then faster and faster they went,
It was then I spied the brass right,
Coming up ahead.

I leaned out from my horse,
And my fingers wrapped around the metal,
Then the announcer said,
"The lady on Belle has won a free ride."

The rest of the ride,
I held the brass ring tight,
And smiled from ear to ear,
And my grandpa sat beside me,
And smiled even bigger!

After some time the horses slowed down,
And then they came to a stop,
And as I got off,
My grandpa lifted me in the air,
And gave me a hug and a kiss.

He shouted out "You won a free ride,"
He said it so loud I though the whole world would hear,
Then he said we had to go exchange it for a token,
So you can have a free ride.

After I got that shiny token,
I looked on the back,
There was a picture of a horse,
And that horse was Belle,

Then I handed the token to my grandpa,
I told him he could go on that free ride,
Because I had won that ride for him.

He never did use that free ride,
But kept it in a box instead,
And that's right were I found it,
And remembered the moment just like yesterday.

So I picked up the token,
And took it to his grave,
So he could use the free ride,
For the Merry-Go-Round in the sky.

And even to this day,
Belle is my favorite horse,
Because I had won my first free ride,
And given it to my grandpa,
For the Merry-Go-Round above.
