biting the back of your neck
insisting on correctness
the wings of night spread
across the mountains
darkness evokes silence
so we whisper
until the sun comes back
to paint us in its golden rays
turn dark eyes surprising green
astonished by the taste of blood
meat lying on the ground beside us
where the kill was made
your tired mouth snarls
before you close your eyes
and decide it is safe to sleep
I will sit here listening
to the trees and the water
eyes narrowed
in the wolf dream
