The feelings surface like before.

I can’t help but look into your eyes,
And wonder how you see me,
But we’ve been down this road before
And decided there could never be a “we”

I catch myself looking over at you,
More often that I’ll admit,
I’ve tried many times to get over you,
But my feelings won’t seem to quit.

How many more days can I go through,
Knowing you will never be mine,
How many more hours can I remain
With all the pain and tears held inside?

I keep asking so many questions
To find the answers don’t exist,
I was such a childish fool to think
That you’re smile wouldn’t be missed.

Soon, now, we will move on,
As each go our separate ways,
I know then that I will look back
And miss these terrible, painful days.

I’ve loved you as a friend,
But also something more,
And now that you are back,
The feelings surface like before.

I've been there and done that... and it's no fun... the pain easies eventually... as they say... time heals all wounds... it may take forever though...

Being somewhat a fellow sufferer like the protagonist of your poem here, I find a common parlor for us to sit and chatter. Indeed your pain and longing shines through the semantics of this poetry. Rather like the stabbings of icepicks into the heart...I would say...nice job here...you really painted a dreary picture...sad but nice.
