But not today.

And it used to be

It was her scolding me

For errors in homework

And I'd go beserk

Get slapped for every spelling error I made

Now it's different today.

I'd never slap Mom.

That's out of line.

I want back what was mine.

A mother who had a mind.

My gut's all in a bind.

I love her no less

Just drowning in stress.

I'm afraid

To watch her fade.

I'm breaking in two

Over what to do.

I'm useless

For she rarely acknowledges

My presense.

So be it.

I quit. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 405 [topic] => 13 [informant] => Kittenfantastico [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 4 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )

I knew someone once who was suffering from alzheimer's, I know it is hard, but hang in there, there will still be times that she will remember, even though they will be rare.
Take care

I'm so sorry for you and your mom. Jus luv her.

I can relate to this. My son is autistic, and he lives in his own little world. Its hard and frustrating, but hang in there. Your love for your mother shines out between the lines. Try to remember how she was, and that she loves you very much.
This is an excellent emotional piece of poetry...well done

Love Dawny x
