A Father’s Guidance

Contributed by thedon on Thursday, 11th March 2004 @ 03:57:33 PM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

O Lord, I don’t know where to go if You don’t guide me.
I can’t run anyway from harm if You don’t hide me.

Lord, I’m so simple and ever humbled before Your glory.
Master, I can’t even turn my page, let alone finish my story.

Lord, I need You to reveal all things because I can hardly see.
I need You to remove my “self” from this walk, so that I can be made free.

Holy Spirit, speak to me so that I know You are near.
Lord and King, whom shall I to obey if from You I cannot hear.

O Creator, my thoughts are so confused, I need to know exactly what to believe.
Lord, I need you to add order and peace to my mind so that from You I may receive.

Lord, show me the path that leads me to my Father, this is what I pray.
Lord, show me my sins, then my forgiveness, and then show me Your way.

Lord, please don’t allow me to become haughty and direct my own steps.
For on this journey are dangers, snares, pitfalls, and deadly traps.

Father, before I attempt to return I need something that will fill me up.
Once You lead me to your house, please let me drink of the Eternal cup.

Dad, I should have never left your presence, I could have missed the glory revealed.
But thanks to your Son’s stripes my all my pain has been healed.

Lord, before I finish this prayer, I earnestly need the ability to see.
Because along this journey there’s been someone laughing, trying to trick me.

Lord, I know I’ve done the wrong things, and for some time I’ve been lost.
But I praise You Father, because my eyes are now open and all I see is the Cross.
