Turned into many more
How was I to know
The joy of such a little car

Always such a pitiful sight
So many dints and dings
It squeeks, rattles, and shakes
Each fender is its own separate color

My first one, a ’73 I ran into the ground
Parts were falling off here and there
Drove it everyday all around
Until finally the motor gave out

Replaced it with another car
Had a more pleasing look to it
Smoother ride, nicer look
Yet I missed my little bug

Bought another bug, a ’66 this time
Again in poor shape
But it never failed to start
And with the engine so loud, I had no need for a radio

Had this one for a few years
Had its ups and downs
Finally forced to sell it
As my husband hated the car

Tried a Jeep and a Fiero next
Nice in their own way
The thing about a bug though
Is it is completely unique

Finally got my third bug
A ’73 superbeetle with a sunroof
Got sunburnt upon my head
Until I learned to wear a hat

Loved that car, drove it all the time
Was in two accidents in it
Drove it thru the mud and the snow
Even once hit a deer

Had to part with this last when we moved
No room on the car carrier
I said that’s the last one for me
Need to find something with more speed

As I write this today, I smile
As once again I am a proud owner
A ’73 banana yellow bug
Won it yesterday off of ebay

So that's what you've been doing? Bidding on ebay....
and I've been looking all over for you. LOL. Great poem. My sister just had her classic bug totaled in her own yard...a drunken driver...ran up into her driveway..
insurance can never re-place a bug in yer heart....
A+++++++
