Array ( [sid] => 37920 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => SCREAMING [time] => 2004-03-09 07:33:05 [hometext] => I was reading a poem on site tonight, it hit my very core, all I wanted to do was SCREAM....finally after 40 years, I feel safe enough to SCREAM! [bodytext] =>
"SCREAMING!"

I was reading a poem tonight on the site......
Buried 40 years, I wanted to scream
all night!!!
Like a boiling pot, that slowly boils over,
Every feeling and thought surfaced
to uncover.

Silent torture, no words uttered,
not even a sigh.
"Go Ahead Beat Me, then let me cry!"
Strike after strike, drama with trauma.
Execution to the core, terrified coma!
"Just get it over with, I'll endure!"
One arm always grabbed, vicious outrage,
hateful grandeur!"

Swung by one limb, bouncing....limp
collapse, prostrate, fatigued, I'm bleeding!
"I can take more, if you please!"
Masterful swings, skillfully with ease.......

"Stoic, I deserve, take your punishment,
stay calm, don't scream!"
No breath to utter a sound, nor blaspheme.
Mother and brother watch, gleefully
Entertaining spectacle with beauty!

"She deserves every single whack.....
That will teach her, a deserved attack!
If words were ever spoken, my ears
were numb.
A backward glance allowed,
I was their animal dumb!

Why? No one ever said.....I'd gather my
dignity, and go on to bed.
And, then, only then did I cry.
Suffocating sobs silently, as I felt blood seep,
before exhausting sleep........

I was seventeen, and I loved to dance.
I think I was late, and met at the back door.
A swinging belt, alarmed my date....he left
too frightened to observe my fate.
Twirled around with a jolted jerk!
My knee caught a corner cabinet,
much pain, I went beserk!!!

Because I cried out, I was hit even harder.
Left on the kitchen floor, as a "weeper."
My knee was so damaged, I tried to get up
but tottered.........
I could not crawl, nor walk, badly battered!

"There's nothing wrong, you liar!"
I managed to slither on my stomach.....
in shock now, and with excruciating
pain left the havoc!

I told the Dr. I was a cheerleader.
Jumped from a stage, left knee unengaged.
I spent 4 solid months in physical therapy.
Learning how to walk again, shakily.

"Go Ahead, Beat Me," I'll survive....
Someday when I can, and if I'm still alive.
I'll muster up the courage bravely,
then I'll scream and cry.......
Thankful, that I escaped and managed
to thrive!

There's a child somewhere
in the United States being
abused, battered, or killed
every 8 minutes.

Oh consue,
I didn't mean to upset you. I had no idea. I just want to find you and hug you and cry for you. I never took a beating like that, but I had my share. You are an incredible person to have lived through that and be the wonderful woman you are. So full of life and caring! God has done amazing things for you. Larry and I decided on Sunday to call the poem Tortured silence, and then you used those words in your poem. I read this with one hand over my mouth. Oh, how I wish I could hug you!

Very real imagery. Brought back old memories. My heart goes out to you.It takes a strong person to live through that and then to share it with others. But isn't poetry a form of therapy? It is for me. Keep healing and feeling. Thumper

Oh ConSue what you had to endure. Breaks my heart. I HATE people who abuse children, I just hate abusers period. When I see little or big abused children my protective instinct comes out and I want to give the abusers pain. I know I can't. You are precious ConSue and don't you ever forget it. It was them and not you. Kie

Connie, my beloved friend, you should go somewhere and scream from the depths of your soul. A good primal scream you were deprived of so long. You are safe and you don't have to hurt and there are so many that love you so dearly. It is a terrifying abuse so many go through. God was with you and you had his strength to help you overcome. You and God did a marvelous job, my dear. I love you, Connie.
