Faces become a blur
Nothing is as it seems
A child weeps alone

Curled in a tight corner
Wrapped in her only safety, her tiny arms
Clothes all ripped and torn
Goosebumps consume her body.

Bare feet, blue as the deep sea
Marvelous curly, blonde hair
Matted across her forehead
Tears dripping on her bruised knees

Her face, indescribable
Expression of hatred and fear
Her lips slightly parted, capturing wetness
Her eyes, black and swollen,
Stare at an unseen object.

Deep within those cold blue eyes,
Trying to escape, images of
Unforgettable panic, unimaginable fear
Look deeper, see any hope?
Don’t turn away, she’s no monster.

I stand gazing at a child,
I crave to hug.
But she’s far from reach, beyond my control.
I want to turn away,
An unseen force holds my sight
I shiver with fears that are not my own
A sudden urge to scream

Her gaze locks mine, eyes turning colder
I taste warmth on my lips
My own tears for this child,
And all I’ve seen here.
Seen horrors in her eyes, eyes of hatred

I know I can’t save her, I pray
As I hear pounding steps, growing closer
A noise so loud, my ears begin to ring
Suddenly we both realize, the time is here

I watch, screaming for help, praying
She’s still too far from reach
Finally, her pain begins subside
Her cold eyes begin to lift,
Showing signs of hope.

She sees me, I smile
I sit next to her, crying together
Holding her close, comforting a sorrow filled little girl
The time has come for my job to be done.
She smiles once before closing her eyes
One last time

Her breath slows to a halt
Her body goes limp,
But this little girl of ten,
Smiles for the first time in five years

For as she lay to die,
She knows she was not alone
For I was with her,
Her Guardian Angel!

This is...the saddest thing i've ever read in my life. Wow, I just want to cry. This is breathtaking in every sense of the word. I really, really loved this. Incredible...

Truly,
