into a chaotic home
where a sister
whom she is older than yet afraid of
starts to put her down.
She blocks her out
and walks straight to her room
and closes the door.
She sits on her bed
and looks around at her walls
before pulling out her homework.
A hopeless feeling
washes over her
as she thinks about everything she has to do.
She still has the days drama on her mind
as another argument between her sister and her mom
errupts in the living room.
She can't take much more she thinks
covering her head with a pillow,
trying to block it all out.
But it's not working.
So she grabs her backpack
and heads out the door
telling her mother she's going for a walk
and she'll be home before dark.
She walks to her best friends house,
The sound of their favorite songs floating from the speakers
of the radio as they do their homework.
When they finish they lounge on her bed
Talking about the days events,
laughing about something someone said.
Then they pull out the lyrics to a song they wrote
and start to sing
their voices blending beautifully.
She closes her eyes as the notes float from her lips
and she goes into another world.
They sing until they have nothing left
ridding herself of everything hurtful in her life...
if only for a little while.
She looks at the time,
and starts on her way home,
and when things get rough again,
All they have to do,
is close their eyes,
and sing. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 215 [topic] => 21 [informant] => SpazzyMcGlee [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )
