Array ( [sid] => 37199 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Killing Depression [time] => 2004-03-03 16:55:30 [hometext] => this is a poem about depression and my advice to those who are new to it or even those who have had it a while. hopfully this will help you [bodytext] => know your enemy
attack him where hes weak
avoid where he is strong
and then you will prevail
the enemy never sleeps
he lives inside your head
make him suffer as you have
make his live a hell
you must attack the symptoms
you must attack the cause
hit the symptoms with pills
hit the cause with therapy
study your emotions
you must know yourself
study the art of war
study psychology
fight him when your strong
avoid him when your weak
you must be vigilant
like a guerrilla fighter
have intercourse with yourself
try to exercise
they both release endorphins
which will bring your mood higher
keep yourself neat and clean
if you look bad you will feel bad
dont listen to negative music
you'll identify with the song
this may bring you down
and you'll wallow in self pity
and when you do that
the enemy becomes strong
take vitamins they help
make dopamine and seretonin
which are chemicals in your brain
that elevate your mood
when you are inactive
the enemy attacks
get out of your house
and find something to do
even if you dont feel like it
you must give the foe no chances
cause he will take advantage
be disciplined and brave
though you may never beat him
you'll take away his power
and maybe one day soon
you'll dance upon his grave [comments] => 3 [counter] => 254 [topic] => 21 [informant] => doug [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 25 [ratings] => 5 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )
