Array ( [sid] => 37138 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => The Dock. [time] => 2004-03-03 00:19:54 [hometext] => a day of observing our 'justice system' at work...huh! [bodytext] => I sit and observe the passing procession,
so devoid of emotional involvement,
One by one the defendants walk by,
one by one they seek their annulment.

A sentence here, a judgment there,
while the Prosecutor performs-
With the same unemotional involvement
doing her job causing, “Social Reforms?”

A fellow who is quite clearly sick,
another who wants to amend.
Then a form in baggy brown clothes,
led to the dock by the Prosecutor’s men.

The vision is surreal, I feel vulnerable
watching my friend in that dock.
With childlike trust you look to the men
who put your skilled hands in those locks.

What has happened to our system?
For until you observe it-you don’t know.
We are guilty until proven otherwise,
what is said in defence "is for show."

God damn these men and let them rot in hell
while choking on their own loathsome vomit.
The most significant thing that they will ever achieve, is crap!
And they will only get false power from it.

We will be here for good or for bad,
they will be there for the latter,
The only thing they can look forward to is
more of their own ***** up the ladder.

As I sit and watch, a thought touches my soul
you have given relief and comfort, laughter and fun.
Have accomplished more in your own years
than the sum of these ****** have ever done.

My friend I want to cry out for you!
Can you not see my anguish?
I look into your sullen eyes,
then this anger for them I extinguish.

This anger will do YOU no good
they feed from it, and get higher in their tower!
We will be proud, proper, demure
let them have their soul sapping power.

You are a scholar, a gentleman
your life is yet to unfold.
And a small relief, but valuable lesson
is your family’s love has been told.

So hold your head high
and wear those shackles, as medals
don’t let them see you cry.
And know, when in your darkest hours
alone
we are all there by your side.

For Ian.

I read this and remember a ride I took on the railroad of "justice" long ago. Left a bitter taste in my mouth. You vented well brother.
Very well done
Larry

Frustrating isn't it? Our judicial system...Send In The Clowns...I clerked for the court in Texas in the 70's. I questioned the judge I clerked for because he gave an abused child back to the parents...I'd handled the photos showing the abuse..and it was clear nothing had really changed. But he showed me the way the law was written and his hands were tied..told me I needed to stop hollering at him and get the law changed...hard thing to do.
