How do we know if our poetry's bad?
I have a way of checking our stuff,
I'll tell you now; No reason to bluff.

Aiken, Conrod: Miracles and meetings
*****s, E.E.: Cambridge Ladies, Buffalo Bill, Picasso
Elliot, T.S.: Morning at the Window, Many more
Kilmer, Joyce: Trees
Lowell, Amy: Solitaire, A Lady
Pound, Ezra: An Immortality, Alba, Many more
Sandburg, Carl: Chicago, Fog
Service, Robert The Cremation of Sam McGee
Teasdale, Sara: On the Dunes, The Long Hill
Wylie, Elinore: Wild Peaches

Then There's: Dickenson, Emily...Melville, Herman...Lowell, James Russell
Whitman, Walt...Thoreau, Henry, David...Holmes, Oliver, Wendell
Poe, Edgar, Allen...Longfellow, Henry, Wadsworth
Whittier, James, Greenleaf...Emerson, Ralph, Waldo

SEARCH all their names, see what they wrote,
See why they're famous...poets of note.
Don't steal their words, see how they write,
Take pad and pencil and sit down tonite.

If you continue to write by the seat of your pants,
Like having green thunbs but not watering plants.
It just might be better to study their lines,
The fount of the words on which poetry mines. [comments] => 10 [counter] => 364 [topic] => 55 [informant] => norm [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => dedicatedpoems )

Sailing close to plagiarism
you could easy cause a schism
in the Y.P.D.C ranks
then from Mick you'ld get no thanks

Me I'm stcking to my own
best way forward I have known
even though I know it's rubbish
somebody might want to publish

bob

Your words are smart but
I write from my heart
No one knows that
but me

Publish it not
perish the thought
It's only written
for me

Thank you dear Prof....your advice will not be forgot, but I write "outside' the lines. I will not conform my thoughts to someone elses ways. I write poetry as extensions of my heart, and no one has a heart like mine....therefore my poetry is unique, if not divine. I cannot write poetry like they did in their day.......I have to adapt and write it for the day where I stay. I don't write for money, no recognition......I write for the funny, and consolation. Placing boundaries on a creative mind, can be destructive, stifling I find. So, thank you dear Norm for your fine advice, you write wonderful poetry, and perhaps that's why, because you conform, but I write just to be the usual norm(normal) that's a "conword"..........I was taught that by you *smiles*
love
consue

Hi norm,
it best to write how one feel about life, love and one's believe.
I would never copy another man's work or words.
thats like stealing that man soul.
I LIKE THIS .

Alas, dear Norm
from where I sit
there's no one with your
clever wit

To my own words
I will be true
and learn all that I can
from YOU!
Best,
Stitch
