Array ( [sid] => 36623 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Osteopenia [time] => 2004-02-27 22:59:55 [hometext] => I'm very scared. I've had this for less than a year. [bodytext] => I went to the
doctor's office today
and found out
I have osteopenia,
it's another form
of osteoporosis.

The doctor said,
if I don't do anything
to slow down the process
of deteriation of my
bones now,
by the time
I am 40,
I will have full blown
osteoporosis.

I am too young
to have this,
if I slip on the ice
and have a fall,
I could break a bone.

Any kind of fall,
no matter if it's
big or small,
I am at risk to
seriously injure myself.

Now I have to
go back onto hormone
replacement to fix
the damage that
has been done.

drink milk, exercise and walk on a regular basis, I learned in school that these are proven ways to build density

good write, good luck with the diagnosis

Cynthia; please do not be frightened. Please read articles or Google osteopenia and you will find ways to reverse or decrease this. You can by eating the proper foods, getting the vitamins and minerals you need and exercise stave off or stop the osteoporosis. This is a problem you do have power over. You can go to your library if you are not satisfied with the research on the net and dig deeper, but I think it will alleviate a lot of your fears. My best, Rita
