And many years ago he walked upon my face
Indeed they said he came to save the human race
And I recall the beatings that he took
This god was so misunderstood
And many lashes he did bear
Yes much the anguish and dispair
But still the crowd chose to condemn
The King of Jews made from a man
The avatar could have brought peace
He could have with one hand at least
Stop the carnage any time
And yet he chose to stay the line
He dragged that cross across my face
A crown of thorns and bloody lace
And none would help him with this burden
But for a pagan who was barren
And from the cross he left to me
A gift for all humanity
His life a Latin poetry
Your treason now a prosody
Behold you churchman penitence
Excruciate the man once sentenced
But for a pagan who was barren
You would not even know of heaven
