Sweet Child

Contributed by JadedExistence on Thursday, 26th February 2004 @ 12:50:37 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Just a little girl
A sweet child of six
Doesn't deserve the constant lies
And streams of clinics

Fake names and dates
For all the new hurts
While she sits there and cries
And he pretends to comfort

She knows better than to look at him
As they ask how it happened
"I fell" she says
That's why her eye is blackened

When they get home
She runs to her room
She sits scared on her bed
In the darkness and gloom

Then the door opens
And a chill runs down her spine
She doesn't know what will happen
She looks for a sign

A hand cracks across her face
And she falls to the ground
He turns on the radio
To drown out the sound

Before she can get up
She feels a kick in her side
She looks around the room
But finds no place to hide

"I'm sorry!" she yells
For what she's unsure
But it will do no good
There's more pain to endure

As the world finally goes dark
She feels no more pain
She knows that after today
She'll never be hurt again

This is from what I know of a friends experience (except for the end) as well as something I was reading in the paper awhile ago. Some of the little details are from my own experience. Hearing about anything like this always makes me really mad so I had to wait awhile to be able to write it properly.
Thanks for your comments
