My future is almost like my past... my present Always unknown... always has been And always will be to the bitter end 'Cause you see... Only God knows... 'cause I'm no angel Never have been... never claimed to be I'm not perfect ... not by a longshot There's no excuse for the things I've done Or the things I've thought about doing to myself I'm just a sinner like everyone else I've fallen short of God's glory more than once And if I get to Heaven... it will be through the grace of God 'Cause I'm no angel... just look at my life A look... a glimpse inside Just look at how it begun... where it has gone Where it's at now... where it's going to? Only God knows... 'cause I'm no angel God could have taken me He knows... He's had plenty of chances to And maybe He should have... But He hasn't yet... For some unknown reason that... Only God knows... 'cause I'm no angel I'm still here... still... Searching... always searching Wondering... always wondering Why? Why was I chosen to be placed here... In this particular family... in this particular place Doing what I do... going where I go... Suffering what I suffer... Only God knows...
