Array ( [sid] => 35981 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => MY JOURNEY [time] => 2004-02-23 13:36:35 [hometext] => Not By Mans Wisdom, But By Revelation. Not By Decision, But By Calling. [bodytext] => When I begin my journey everything was fine;
all came nice and easy, nothing out of line.
I had things as I wanted, self-confidence and peace.
Knew not of trial and trouble, my mirth seemed not to cease.
I went where I cared to, no hindrance did I find.
The world held me in friendship, absorbed my wicked mind.
Ably did I traverse my realm with wit and charm:
had no time for worry, no need to feel alarm.
Then, a strange thing happened, mortality came to view.
My step became unsteady, self-assurance left me too.
With a season of forboding, transgression came to mind;
and like Hosea's Gomer, no recourse could I find.
Filled with dis-satisfaction and yearning for an end,
to this emptiness and longing, I sought to find a friend.
Someone to share this misery I could no longer bear.
I tried the "world's" religion, but found no comfort there.
It called for self-made righteousness, freewill to perform:
leaving me discouraged, fearful and forlorn.
Unknowingly being prepared to hear of Soveriegn grace;
and guided by a precious friend, I found the proper place.
To hear the gospel message of substitution sweet:
how Christ performed the work that saves the soul complete.
My heart was filled with thankfulness and amazement too,
I was sure my kinsmen would welcome this good news.
But, oh' was I mistaken, though to me it was so plain,
how Christ's passion alone saved his sheep from shame.
Men trust their own ability and will not have free grace,
unless made by the Spirit their awful sins to face.
I count it a blessed wonder that God elected me
to be outside "religion's camp, for also once was he.
Although I know the Bible pronounces it just so;
that the base and foolish are brought into the fold, ( 1Cor.1:26-29)
I still stand in amazement how that it should be,
Christ would show this favor to such a wretch as me.
Unsearchable are His judgments, His ways past finding out,
yet, he doeth all things right, of that there is no doubt.
Faith, and even believing, are both the work of God:
this is proclaimed most clearly in His Holy word.(Ephes.2:8 and John 6:29)
Many years have come and gone, still no works from me
can add even one iota to His passion on that tree.
Paul was truly saddened by his kin's selfrighteous zeal,
with him I find communion, as this sadness I too feel.
Christ has the royal prerogative in being Savior, King;
I bow in awe and reverence, I can do no other thing.
What transpires in the future is in the Fathers will;
and what He has appointed the Son shall then fulfill.
I pray that through Christ's mercy, He has found a place
for me and my kinship of this fallen race.

While I cant' say I'm converting, your rhymes and rythm make for a tantalizingly good feat. It's always pleasing to find a kidnred soul who enjoys the way a poem reads rather than emphasizing the emotion in discombobulated fragments.

Stylishly done.
