Array ( [sid] => 35941 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Cutting Away The Pain [time] => 2004-02-23 01:14:06 [hometext] => This poem is dedicated to a friend, CJ! I'll always love you! [bodytext] => Here I sit... just gazing at...
Some sad looking roses setting on my desk
They' ve wilted and died...
Their life's blood has been drained away

I sit here thinking... about you, my friend
I just want you to know that I care and love you so
But what you do to yourself
Makes my heart feel sick...
When my heart cries for you
The hot tears flow

I know that you don't mean to do it...
But you do it again and again and again...
An unbroken cycle without end

I don't know what happens...
What you feel inside
When people start yelling at you...
It seems you let your anger get the best of you
Then you run home and hide...
You do it without thinking it through...
Holding things deep inside...
You cut yourself...
In hopes of letting the blood flow
To drain your pain away

This is not the answer, my friend
I know there is so much going on in your life
The world seems like it's spinning out of control
And this merry- go- round.... it won't stop
It won't even roll

I know it seems addicting
But that's just a lie
A lie to deny yourself the joy
God gives freely from His own heart to yours

Hurting yourself is not going to make anyone feel better
Least of all you
'Cause when you're hurting yourself ... you're hurting me too

Open your eyes and take a long hard look at those scars you've left
They're not trophies of triumphant...
They're stripes of pain and anguish
You can't seem to get passed

Cutting away the pain...
What good does it do?
You just punish yourself and those who love you...
Your problems are still there when you're through
Still staring you in the face
Though you say you forget about them
As you watch your life's blood drain away

Oh, my friend, you need help...
You're more than just a little bit confused...
And I'm more than just a little bit upset
As my heart grieves for you...
Because when you try to cut away the pain...
Remember this... you're cutting me too!!

You're in my heart... that's where I carry you...
And you're in my prayers.... 'cause God loves you too!

Wow!
I'm so happy to see this write.
I read so many poems of folks who do this and my heart bleeds for them.
Your friend should cherish the luv u offer.
I pray that he listens. Also I pray for all the troubled souls out there that have no clue how to cope.
Keep writing as I'm sure this write will touch masny lives.
Well done!
luv, huggs,
emy

Hey, this is great. I think you're a very brave person for writing this, and probably a very good friend because it affects you so much. I like your style of writing, it's fluent.. yeh, brilliant.

Very good write and i agree with you... but you also have to hear the other side as well... stick with your friend .. even though maybe feeling not having nothing means nothing at all but it means the world... even though you may not understand everything and think its for attention... i victum i also am... its how we deal with things... in the end your right, its not worth it... and the scars you thought would heal only bring back more and more pain.. the absence of the pain, fear, thought of bein broken.. will longer heal...

Great Write!
