I am here to hold onto you
I am here to make everything seem alright

You look into my eyes
You think you know who you see
You don't really know the real me

Every day is another day to try and hold on
I look into the mirror and put on my mask
Don't want anyone see the real me inside

They see the smiles and grins
They see the humor and joy
They only see what I let them see

I am holding it all inside
Will they see the pain I carry?
Will I be able to be the ever constant happy?

Deep inside I hold onto all their pain
For every person that I help with their pain, my pain doubles
When can I deal with my own pain?

I don't want to be what they expect of me
I only want to be the real me
I want to stop lying and set the truth free

I am tired of wondering what they need me to be
I want to be the real me, how do I let go of the lie?
Wish I could be who I need to be

We will see who will stick around for the truth
We will see what it takes to hold everything together
One day We will see what it's like to be the real me.

Till then I will be here to care
I will be there for everyone else
I will help them be who they need to be

Lesha,
This poem sounds exactly like my life... like me... I listen to everyone else' s problems, but when it comes to my own... I hold them deep inside where no one can find them... except me. Then when I need to let them out... they come flowing out in a poem just like that.
Thanks for the poem... I LOVED IT!!!

Just be honest and truthful at all times with yourself. We all question ourselves at times but just be you and the best you that you can possibly be.

Rainbows,
Rita

A question...who you need to be or who you are...people need you to be a lot of things but what matters most is what you are....take it from a long time sufferer of the "need to be" syndrome. Anyway....a nice quaint...wishful collaboration of words in all.
