[bodytext] => Talking in Verse They cast out the nets to bring her down. Closing in, shut down, clamp shut. So close, but they cast out too late. Twisting, frightened, whirlwind shock of flight. Every fighting strain in the air strains on the muscle And on the everything. Each corkscrew hurricane knots the thread. You’re tangled in the traps and in the blood. Accursed, perhaps, for you to see the open horizons, Yet fear the criss cross cage to still. Blessed, perhaps, for you to feel the rush of angels’ wings. Yours is the summer, the sunlight and the dawn. The noose cannot hold you, they cannot take you. Forget their fractured view, the broken, wrenched prison. Take the breath and soar up with the dream, Above the maze of steel and mess of rope. I’ve been watching and waiting on the stars for a while. For a star amidst the cloud and dust and smoke. Blessed, perhaps, to glimpse this one for a time.
