salvation comes in rain
running in mad rivers
across the parking lot
washing away the grime
of every day

my hair still damp
with summer rain
I am free for a few hours
until the sun comes up again
let's go

peaceful sensations lap
at my tired soul
our boat rocks on gentle swells
swans watch our passing
we float by

endless hours never add up
they just keep on going
wrapped in our half truths
we think we have all the answers
but we don't

was it selfish to go so far
without saying anything
risk everything for one last chance
to find what I'm looking for
was I unfair?

I can feel this when I read it. Is it ever unfair to go for one last chance? I don't know. Saying goodbye can be so hard, and long goodbyes are even tougher. Is anything finally over. You've left me full of questions, so that means this is good stuff.

I know what you mean Merry ... paddling, without an oar ... seeming to get nowhere, yet still trying all the while ... words I can relate to so well ... hugs Jan

This poem is breathtakingly sad. I love the flow of your words. And things are always worth that one last chance, good or bad.... it's part of life. Up the river with or without a paddle! :-)
Angel always...godspeed...joni
