No warmth can reach me
It's deep down inside
Where no one can see

I just don't care anymore
I'm too tired to try
I can't even feel enough
To sit down and cry

I feel the cold steel, glide across my arm
I press a little harder, until it breaks the skin
The blood drips down, across my hand
I cut deeper, trying to reach the pain within

I can't feel anything
Don't see a point to life
I try to find some emotion
As I stare at the blood stained knife

Hoping the emptiness will leave
Like the blood flowing across my palm
My life starts to fade
Leaving me drained and calm

As the darkness envelopes my mind
I know it's finally done
I close my eyes
And know that pain has won [comments] => 12 [counter] => 297 [topic] => 36 [informant] => JadedExistence [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 28 [ratings] => 6 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Suicide )

I pray this is not a cry for help but just a form of art. Either way I have been on both sides please let me know. It is a great read. very dark.

No this is not a cry for help. It would have been if I had written it a year ago but I'm doing a lot better. I used to cut and almost killed myself before one of my friends made me get some help so these are feelings I am well aquainted with and sometimes still feel. It always helps to write about it and that is where most of my poetry comes from.

Thanks for the comments.

Glad to hear you're OK. Writing about feelings---both old and present---almost always promotes healing. Keep writing and living.

This was very well written and I understand the feeling only too well. Dying is easy, it's the living that's hard. I have a friend that tells me "breathe" all the time...sometimes I feel like a star..ya know..if I went out, the universe is so big, who'd miss me? I hate suicide poetry...I write so much of my own LOL. I saw the comment that it isn't a cry for help, and I'm glad...I've been there and back and there again...I do know diddley, and have been formally introduced to squat! (about the subject.) I was a counsellor in a suicide prevention center...but couldn't help myself. Ironic, huh?

Very dark, for some reason it made me look over my shoulder to make sure no one else was there. I liked it, very honest and emotive. Glad to hear you're doing better. Take care.
