rub away your rust and dust
see the silver truly shine
layered beauty, deep-set trust

stretch and polish silver wings
shake off drops of dew and tears
silver thoughts: the laughter clings;
newly burnished-- gone the fears

I yearn to see your silver eyes
clouded not with tears of old
swiftly flying; gracious skies
guide to wonders yet untold

argent falcon, lick your scars,
rise anew in noble flight
too long been spent in glow of stars,
your time has come to leave the night.

sunset frames your silhouette
silver 'gainst the amber air;
hopes and dreams so sweetly met
falcon leaves his silver lair. [comments] => 13 [counter] => 230 [topic] => 19 [informant] => ShadowDaughter [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 30 [ratings] => 6 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => InspirationalPoems )

I really like the way the words flow into each other and that certain beat you captured.

Nora...this is far above my miniscule little compliments. This is so breathtaking, I think you have finally topped "The Cruelty of Dreams" as my favorite. Thus I stand, in silent awe, at your superior talent.

Let's see: the rhyme is perfect, your word choice is it's usual amazing quality, and the rhythm is --mellifluous--- (yes, I stole your word and used it on you! ). This is, in my eyes, a true masterpiece.

Truly, with the biggest CEGH in recorded history,
-Dan

Great imagery! And the rhyme is really good too. So few people pay attention to rhyme or rhythm these days...
Keep it up!

I'll bet you think i've forgotten how much I love this poem--it's the best on all of YPDC! I felt it was worth reading again, and I love it every bit as much as the first time.

With inside jokes and love (always Nora),
-Dan

Followed V.S.' comment trail to this one, which i'm glad I did.

The weight of the words you use is balanced with skill, over the third stanza, and tips gently towards the ending gracefully, as your silver falcon flies, to the last. I appreciate the rhythm, and believe that you carved, etched, sketched and chiselled the imagery in this beautifully.

I'd like to think that the person this was meant for appreciated the skill and endeavour required to create something like this.

Thanks for sharing.
