Well rehearsed but so slow
Controlled by speechwriters
Pinnochio Joe

Raise this eyebrow, raise that
Stare deeply, now frown
Not even an actor
More misguided clown

Played from above
By puppet master strings
Who really
Is behind all these things?

Who writes the speeches
Of danger and death?
Who pushes your buttons
To create intake of breath?

Who knows what to say
To make you fear?
Who chooses the words
They want you to hear?

Like some old record player
When the needle is stuck
They’re taking no chances
Nor leaving to luck

They see this puppet
With his small repertoire
The buttons are few
But they know what they are

Danger! Warning!!
Enemies around!
He will protect you!
This baying hound!

And if his actions
Are those CAUSING fear...?
Self-fulfilling prophecies
To BRING danger here...?

Well, then he says...
“See, I was right all along!”
And old Pinnochio Joe
Just keeps singing his song

I dunno how you do it, but your political poety is always incredibly eye catching. I liked the analogies used here

I'm impressed day after day with the notes that you hit. Coincidentally, I wrote something today about puppeteering, although on a completely different track. Weird. I musta picked up on your vibe or something . . .
