Friendship's Ties

On a rainy night in the spring of the year,
I felt our bond of friendship grow,
You may be distant, but you feel so near,
A presence I'm more than glad to know.
For some things precious must come at great cost,
Like gems worn by maidens at majestic balls,
But things such as this can be easy lost,
Thus, I've found a jewel that outshines them all
Your caring and kindness are my beacon of hope
That I use to guide me down life's dim-lit road,
You're my anchor, to keep me from falling down-slope,
The one always willing to help share my heavy load.
And always, in return, will I pay you in kind
For making this wonderful life worth living,
My friendship and love will you always find,
Because never, my friend, will I ever stop its giving.
