The loving family always told me
I could be whatever I wanted
If I?d just follow my heart

Follow my heart was all it took
To be a writer, or an artist
Whatever I could ever dream of
But would it work, to follow this heart

My heart blackens with the night
And bathes itself in the bottle
How can I follow my heart
When it leads me to drunken insanity

To the darkest depths of the realm
Where the common man cant breathe
Yet my mind and spirit run free
Wont you please come with me?

But it just cant be that simple
Cause where my heart leads me
I am afraid to go down its path
By myself without any love

So will you come with me
Join me in fellowship falling down
To the dark side of the moon
Where my heart longs to fly

So come with my, my dearest friend
And step outside your locked box
There are no boxes where we go
Just empty spaces to be filled

We can venture to the promised land
The cactus land, the Wasteland
The land of dying Indians songs
Where my heart longs to fly.

A land before time, before reason
Where we can be free to do anything
We can run with the unicorn
And scream with the butterflies

So come with me for fellowship
Gently into that good night
And we can be at peace and talk
About anything forever more

We shall drink of sweetest nectar
And speak of cabbages and kings
All the while, going into the darkness
In fellowship, we fear no evils

Do not be afraid, we follow my heart
Forever loving, it will lead us
To the fertile green valleys
Of a life beyond our own. [comments] => 1 [counter] => 255 [topic] => 16 [informant] => MrMojoRisin [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => FriendshipPoetry )

Intriguing little ditty; quite a refreshing take on love, darkness, and friendship, if I should say so. An excellent way to start in this website, no doubt.

Good Job.
